Don’t Stop Believin’

Dreams

I’m so excited to have a new place to share my writing journey and all the exciting things coming up. As some of you know, I signed with my agent, Stacey Donaghy, last month. I won’t share the entire story as it’s a long one, but I’ll give you the finer points since some of you have asked.

  1. It happened when I was least expecting it. In fact, I was considering moving onto a new project.
  2. This was a story I’d entered into Pitch Slam and gotten chosen for the awesome #TeamSlytherin. I’d also had some success with this manuscript, a contemporary YA, in #Pitmad. BUT, in the end, I received my offers from plain, old-fashioned querying.
  3. Yes, I said my offers. I ended up with three offers, and had to make a very tough decision. At that point, it wasn’t just yes or no, it was who was going to be the best choice for my writing career.

This experience has shown me that, especially in the publishing world, you never know what’s going to happen or when. The key is to never give up. Or, as it says above, Keep Calm and Believe in Dreams. You never know when they’re going to come true.
